I read A Pictorial Tour of Unarius by the Unarius Educational Foundation
This is basically recruitment materials for what is probably one of the more benign UFO cults. So you get some of that beseeching, manipulative uber-positivity that of course comes with the territory, but aside from some stuff about Lemuria (a few steps removed from the most dubious elements of the myth) and the hard to swallow idea that the white, Californian founders of the cult conveniently had past lives as both pharaohs and chinese sages (lol), it ultimately seems like a kind of inexplicable situation of this old lady having so much rizz that a bunch of people were willing to make elaborate dioramas and paintings and costumes and films in service of her belief that aliens were going to imminently arrive to teach us how to make big tesla coils that would provide infinite clean energy to end all inequality and pollution. The visual stuff here is remarkable amateur artistry; you can get an idea of the general aesthetic in the virtual tour of their building that still exists on their website. I have to watch one of their films.
I love researching the variety of UFO experiences and beliefs to think about what aliens (and the broader idea of life beyond the Earth or even humankind) means to people. This is definitely one of the more optimistic and celebratory ones, which I like for what they can say in terms of utopic thinking and imagination. But the religion-like aspect also brings along some of the negative elements of this cultural thread. One thing is for sure, I never stop being fascinated with the back and forth.
