I read Women's Rites by Jeanne de Berg

A journal of personal investigations, pseudonymously written by Catherine Robbe-Grillet (WHO IS STILL ALIVE??), on the path to becoming a famous dominatrix. This was basically awesome lol. I really enjoyed it. Of course the erotic scenes are really vividly written, but they don't feel like "erotica" in the sense that they're meant to get you off. Every detail matters because she's applying an almost scientific level of investigativeness to what she wants and what her clients are interested in.

I don't think I have the discipline to approach my own sex life this way, I'm way too goofy. But it was really interesting to see the variety of people and situations she encountered as she explored and entered this lifestyle, as well as just how crazy into it everyone is. Definitely made me want to work at being able to articulate my own personal angle this well!
