I read Les Enfants Terribles by Jean Cocteau

A novella about some crazy aristocratic orphans and the people they pull into the death-drive vortex of their aimless lives. Very gothic but also french, really funny and weird, and a lot of material for thinking about how to depict relationships where people are relating to each other through another person, or the presence or absence of another impacts the relationship.
